Gravity driver Marco Wittmann seals runner up spot

Gravity driver Marco Wittmann secured second place in the F3 Euro Series with his third 4th-place finish of the final weekend at Hockenheim.

Following two finishes in P4 Saturday, the German driver headed into Sunday’s finale with an eight-point lead over third-placed Daniel Juncadella. Starting from P6, Marco made a good start and he was up to 4th in the early laps – with Juncadella trailing him.

When Felix Rosenqvist dropped out of second place on lap 8, Marco was up into the top three. Juncadella was meanwhile relentless in his chase of Marco but it took him until five laps from the end of the 25-lap race before he could force his way past.

In the end Juncadella could make up no further ground so 4th was enough for Marco to take second place in the championship behind the victorious Roberto Merhi, who took victory ahead of second-placed Nigel Melker.

Marco’s runner-up spot is particularly crucial as the championship top two have been pledged tests in the Formula Renault 3.5 championship.  BAM would like to congratulate Marco on his tremendous season and second place finish in the F3 Euro Series.
