25th March 2012
One race in and the form of the teams and drivers is starting to emerge... Malaysia provides a stern test for car, driver and spectator alike with the high ambient track temperatures and huge humidity.
....and it's Asia, great sights, sounds, flavours and smells that only Asia can provide. Combined with 5* F1 hospitality and great hotels at reasonable prices makes it a must visit Grand Prix.
After the circuit run, hospitality of Malaysia F1 Paddock Club™ is back and in BAMs opinion it's one of the best. The suites, located above the pit lane are enclosed by a saw tooth glass structure meaning the viewing of the pit lane is exquisite with the suites projecting imbed the pit lane, and being on the first floor you will be as close to the pit action as anywhere in the world. The hospitality as always is second to none and the air-conditioning a saviour from the extreme heat outside.
Visit the roof terrace which runs the entire length of the main straight giving excellent views of the grid, first and last corners, or cross the roof and view almost the entire circuit to the rear... And then drop down a floor when it all gets too hot to handle for an ice cream or a glass of champagne!
Views to the paddock are superb with the teams’ trucks and hospitality units back home in Europe, team activities are on full view making it a fascinating distraction from the fine dining and race cars.
Outside of the paddock club BAM can supply the full range of grandstands, all of which are covered. Most opt for the double sided main grandstand with the F1 village conveniently sandwiched between the two stands. Turn 1 stand is also a popular choice for great views down the main straight and of course that first corner action.
General admission is on grassy banks around the circuit and is exposed to the natural elements, and believe us Malaysia has elements! So BAM would suggest that this is the option for the hardest Formula 1 fan.
The last 3 races have had late afternoon start times meaning that rain is just about as certain as you are to have a great time.
Pretty much whatever takes your fancy! A modern Asian city propelled into the first world by high finance and striking architecture. With the dramatic petronas twin towers dominating the city, beside which you can still eat street food alongside the designer stores, makes the Asian Grand Prix such a wonderful experience.
Most of the hotels are of exceptional standards, and are located within the golden triangle in the hub of the city. Contact BAM for the best hospitality options available.
Alternatively stay away from the bright lights and mingle with the F1 fraternity at the Pan Pacific Hotel at the circuit, convenient for the race and unrivalled for star spotting but a 40 minute taxi ride to town. Contact BAM for more information should you like this option.
Kuala Lumpur has some of the best dining options in the region with great fusion restaurants in even better locations. BAMs experienced Event Reps can point you in the right direction, and after dinner plenty of chic and not so chic venues adorn the city to party should you wish, and given the late event start, why not!
Kuala Lumpur is also a shopping Mecca with air conditioned malls offering designer shopping with all the major brands. Contrasted with the night markets in and around china town where you can buy all the same designer brands... Only copies!
Sepang now just over eleven years old with its trademark 'lotus' flower main grandstand (is that the real lotus? Who knows!) is located around 40 minutes by taxi adjacent to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. A circuit purposely built by the Malaysian Government to provide a venue for Formula 1 is a modern track with a variety of corners fast and slow, the final bend hairpin providing a great overtaking spot at the end of the lap.
Transport to and from the track is easy with an abundance of taxis in Kuala Lumpur, or limousines which BAM can provide.
Traffic at the circuit is blissfully light, however traffic in Kuala Lumpur can be heavy and arriving back in the city after each day can extend travel times so a comfortable form of transportation is a good idea. The recently completed airport express train is also an option with shuttle buses linking it to the circuit and back.
