Japanese Grand Prix F1 Packages

7th October 2012

Whilst Japanese involvement has diminished in Formula 1 over recent years, the racetrack at Suzuka and the Japanese crowd are both well worth the trip for the experiences gained. The crowds are vast and demand still out ways supply and a Ballot usually allocates tickets locally. The young Japanese crowds worship their favourite F1 drivers on the same level usually reserved for pop stars.

Moreover with recent events in Japan perhaps this is a time more than any to show support to the Japanese motorsport fraternity and make the trip for a memorable experience.

Viewing and hospitality at Suzuka
F1 hospitality Japan

Viewing at Suzuka is simply fantastic with varied grandstand views, terraces and hospitality. In 2008 an all new pit complex incorporating the F1 paddock club was completed, with all of the grandstands here uncovered and Suzuka renown for some very inclement weather, the fully protected and covered paddock club could be the place to be!

Hospitality is prepared to the usual European standard and as ever offers quality with a local twist. Viewing, pit walks and access are amongst the best and both the first and last corners are in view from the suites above the team garages.

A trip around the circuit will find great grandstands at the first and last corners, the last corner stands being our favourite as they offer a different perspective to that found at other circuits. Other good stands are the ones at the ultra quick 130R and hairpin corners.

Wherever you choose to watch the race from, BAM can supply and advise on what’s the best on offer.

What's on offer in and around Suzuka?

Nearby there isn't really much around Suzuka apart from the racing, with most visitors choosing to base themselves in the modern city of Nagoya. As with most Japanese cities on the main island a mix of east meets west with traditional hotels and restaurants alongside more familiar western options makes your stay as comfortable or adventurous as you choose to make it.

Why not take a day away from the racing and make a trip to the historic capital of Kyoto on the Shinkansen (bullet train) a trip well worth making with great temples to visit and traditional cobbled streets. A stroll through the cherry blossom trees can be spectacular when the sun is shining, as can a trip through the Zen gardens. By train Kyoto is only an hour or so away.

BAM can suggest and arrange add ons to your trip via our travel partners for those wishing to extend their Japanese experience into a holiday.

The first thing to say about Suzuka is it's a real racetrack, with challenging corners and amazingly in a figure of 8, although the track passes over itself by way of a bridge you will be pleased to know!

Great corners like Spoon and 130R have provided great memories of moves and incidents from past seasons and who can forget the Prost and Senna title deciding battles born out on this great track.

It is possible to make your way around 90% of the track on foot, passing outside to re-enter just around the 130R corner, although there is a grandstand here if you want to watch from this great vantage point.

There is a lot to see and do around the circuit, a huge complex of local business and merchandising is set up here, where you will find things you could never dream of in Europe… Jenson Button biscuits anyone? There is also a ferris wheel around the area of the last corner, great food stalls, and outside the main entrance a series of permanent memorabilia stalls where you can find amazing things from car parts to drivers’ overalls from races past.

The location of Suzuka and availability of accommodation creates some challenges, the nearest major town being Nagoya with major chain hotels but this is a good hour by road without traffic. Helicopter shuttles are possible from here should you wish BAM to arrange them. Tokyo is three hours away by road or train and really is a big effort if this is your preferred base for the weekend.
