Chinese Grand Prix F1 Packages

15th April 2012

A Grand Prix in a truly foreign land, and an interesting perspective on a country without a motorsports pedigree creating a Grand Prix in the modern mold with fantastic facilities, F1 hospitality and a track developed to suit the needs of a modern Formula 1 car.

Added to this the diversities that exist in Shanghai where progress and poverty coexist with history and the future, a truly extraordinary city in so many respects and a great place to spend time away from the racetrack.

Viewing and hospitality at Shanghai
F1 hospitality China

Formula 1 Paddock Club™ hospitality in Shanghai boasts the most dramatic location of the year, not only with its suites and views from above the pits and along the pit lane but uniquely you can dine and view from the over bridges over the start finish straight. You can have views from a multitude of elevations and perspectives with your exclusive paddock club access, an experience not to be missed.

BAM can advise you on which suite and location will suit your needs best, call us today for more details.

Views from the rear of the paddock club suites look across the team preparation area to the floating pavilions which form the team management and hospitality suites, a strangely tranquil oasis amidst the noise and crowds.

Grandstands here are simply vast, swallowing the crowds and giving a variety of viewing perspectives. The main stand offers views across the entire circuit from the upper rows, or for closer views of the grid and pits choose the lower rows. Either end gives great perspectives onto the first corners or pit exit and the final corner which has provided most of the action here in recent years.

Our favourite would be a well chosen seat in the hairpin stands where the cars brake hard from 210mph to 40mph for the tight hairpin, before accelerating into the final corner. Contact BAM for advice on the best seats available.

What's on offer in and around Shanghai?

What a city! Everything you would expect and a whole lot you wouldn't from the leading business and trading city in the world’s second largest economy.

On arrival, be stunned with a 300mph ride from the airport to the heart of Shanghai on the unbelievable Maglev train, levitating silently through traditional villages until arriving in the ultra-futuristic city.

Everything is here, traditional markets, cutting edge architecture, colonial history, street food and the finest of fine dining and shopping to rival anywhere in the world.

Choice of hotels, which are largely modern and luxurious, is repentant on your preference for location. BAM can advise you on the best places to stay as the wrong location can result in much sitting in the legendary Shanghai traffic to get to the circuit, shopping districts, or the Bund area where much of the best restaurants and views across the Pudong River are found.

No trip to Shanghai would be complete without a stroll down the Bund, or a drink on a roof terrace watching the neon street scene grow as night falls. Take a river boat dinner cruise to look back at the city from the river itself and take in all that Shanghai has to offer.

Many of the restaurants on the Bund are frequented by the F1 personnel in the evening, so you never know who may be dining at the next table. Ask BAM for the best restaurant choices on offer in the city.

The Shanghai track is located away from the city around 1 hours drive from the centre of Shanghai, although this is a bit of a generalisation as it could take that long to reach the outskirts of town on a bad day! That said transport links are improving year on year and the journey is all part of the experience!

Once at the circuit you will be met with quite a spectacle, built entirely from scratch on reclaimed land and the huge main stand and pit complex with dramatic wing shaped over bridges, 9 stories above the track. Parking and access are in abundance and convenient with the walk to the entrances an interesting experience with street hawkers offering a variety of mis spelt merchandise, the world’s largest collection of plastic binoculars, and just about everything else you couldn’t possibly need for a day at the Grand Prix!

Perhaps the most interesting characters outside the circuit are the BBQ bike men who will rustle you up a tasty kebab on charcoal grills mounted on the rack on the back of their bicycles, if you should be tempted you will be pleased to know that public services are plentiful.
