Why should you go to the Australian Grand Prix... So you don't have to set your alarm for 3am to get up to watch it on the telly! And it’s a great buzz to have mass a pilgrimage to the other side of the world to peruse your F1 favourites, in the unique atmosphere that can only be generated down under.
Melbourne offers a great range of viewing and F1 hospitality that exceeds many other circuits around the world. And with the local organisers and Bernie making noises about the merits of a race in Australia it could be that the opportunity to visit the Aussie Grand Prix may be short lived.
As an event managed locally opportunities for viewing and on track hospitality exceed many other circuits around the world.
Paddock Club is located above the pits on the main start finish straight offering a better view of the final corner than the first. You can view from the two tier roof viewing platform which is open to the Melbourne elements or lower level covered views are available from the suites as are views into the paddock at the rear.
Catered hospitality and corporate suites are available on many corners around the circuit, offering private viewing enclosures, roof top terraces and suites within grandstands. Contact BAM for hospitality options available, some of which are exclusive to BAM.
Grandstands are also found on most corners, with big screens visible from most. The stands at turn 1, 2 and the final corners are superbly located for great views and proximity to the F1 village and entertainment.
There is even a small (free) stand facing the paddock entrance for star spotting away from the track.
Whatever you choose take the opportunity to walk the fantastic parkland circuit. You can navigate the entire track and find great vantage points on all corners, some inside and out. A great walk not spoiled by the sport!
Located around an hours flight from Sydney, Melbourne is found on Australia’s Southern Coast and at the time of the race is usually blessed with temperatures in the mid to high 20's, making it a pleasant place to be whilst winter drags on back in Europe.
Truly a sporting city Melbourne is no stranger to high profile events being home to the Australian Open Tennis and the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is well worth a visit if only to bask in the glory of Boxing Day 2010!
Like many Australian cities, Melbourne is truly multi-cultural and has pockets of ethnicity around the city. Visit Lygon Street, the home of Little Italy where no other street embraces the F1 event with more vigor, and enjoy Italian food in the pavement restaurants while locals drive up and down parading their support for Ferrari.
Some of the best hotels are located in the City Centre on the banks of the Yarra River which passes through the city. The most notable being The Crown Hotel which boasts a casino and entertainment complex with fine dining, shops and cafes. Contact BAM to explore the available hospitality options which range from the grandest 5 star to fantastic boutique hotels, or beachside venues nearby to the circuit.
Find the heart of the Grand Prix crowd on Fitzroy Street in St Kilda, an eclectic mix of varsity restaurants, pubs and clubs which runs from the edge of the circuit all the way to the beach, a great place for a drink before and after the race. You may get lucky and catch Lewis hooning for the crowd!
Call BAM today and let us tailor make your trip down under for the ultimate Grand Prix experience.
The wonderful parkland venue which is Albert Park finds a part permanent part temporary street circuit winding its way around Albert Park Lake. Barriers edge the circuit for long stretches keeping the drivers focused and the spectators close to the action. White lines crisscross the track where cars park when Formula 1 isn't in town.
The downtown location of the circuit means you are just a short (free) tram ride to the circuit from the centre of the city or a short stroll from the nearby beachside suburb of St Kilda.
At the circuit the organisers provide a packed programme of events both on and off the track to fill all 4 days of the event, with a sport race programme to rival any Grand Prix with a variety of Australian categories, including the spectacular V8's.
Car clubs, military displays, and a few cold tinnies will keep you entertained throughout the weekend with a concert at the circuit usually closing the Grand Prix.
